Katherine McClayton, MPH
Director, Education Liaison and Prevention Programming
Katherine McClayton holds her Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in community health prevention and communication from the University of Illinois – Chicago. Before joining the Ascend team, Katherine worked for a residential women’s eating disorder treatment center heading up their aftercare planning and outpatient communication. Katherine has a particular passion for working with young women in high school and college and their families on how their lives can continue while maintaining the priority of health and well-being. Katherine is passionate about mental health advocacy, having served on the Board of the Eating Disorders Coalition and participating in several federal congressional lobby days in Washington, D.C. Katherine also has a background in healthcare development, working for The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s for Parkinson’s Research in New York City prior to receiving her MPH.
Katherine grew up in the Washington, DC area and played sports from six years old through college. She played Division One Lacrosse at Davidson College. Passionate about youth sports, she coached youth lacrosse for five years during and after college. Currently, Katherine is the Director of Education and Prevention Services at Ascend Consultation in Healthcare. In that role, she leads all communication efforts to increase visibility and understanding of sports psychology, working with collegiate athletes, high school athletes, coaches, trainers, and parents. She enjoys running, skiing, cooking, and spending time with her family.
