Colleen Kula Hopkins, is Associate Director of Clinical Services at Ascend Consultation in Healthcare. Ascend is privileged to have Colleen’s superior administrative leadership, psychotherapy expertise, and thoughtful collaborative care for adolescents and adults with eating disorders, substance abuse, trauma, life change/transition and mood related disorders.
Colleen is a Licensed Clinical Therapist, earning a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Previously, Colleen completed an undergraduate study at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and Family Studies.
After honing skills at the Child Development Lab in Champaign, Illinois, Colleen worked for one of the United States largest residential behavior health treatment centers, spending more than a decade in various leadership roles, and culminating most recently as, Chief Executive Officer. Colleen values the power of high quality, evidence-based treatment and specialized care for individuals in moments of greatest need. Many years of working with families and professionals from across the country provided invaluable experience, insight and unique perspectives which collectively inform her work.
Colleen is a member of IAEDP (The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals), ANAD (Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders), and serves on the Chicago Board of NAMI, (The National Alliance on Mental Illness). Colleen expertly recognizes the complexity of mental illness and the power of its associated biochemical and genetic underpinnings. She is dedicated to the development of new and effective treatment recognizing that too many are lapsing to unhealthy behavior patterns and chronic conditions.
