Ascend continued to grow in 2018, welcoming to the professional team, Senior Executive Colleen Kula, therapists Dana Baker and Mallory Silberman, and dieticians Rebecca Magnuson and Hunter Farthing!

Dr. Conviser with colleagues Dr. Fisher and Dr. McColley, published in the International Journal of Eating Disorders (March, 2018) the results of the research: Are children with chronic illnesses requiring dietary therapy at risk for disordered eating, or eating disorders? A systematic review showed that interventions for diet-treated chronic illnesses may increase the risk disordered eating in children.

In attendance at the World Congress on Osteoporosis, in Krakow, Poland, April 19. 2018, Dr. Conviser presented preliminary but promising results of Ascend’s research on the effects of Osteogenic loading on low bone mineral density.

Dr. Conviser, Ascend’s CEO, committed to preserving athlete well-being, participated in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Mental Health Summit in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 5, 2018.

Ascend in collaboration with Opernfest Prague, went international in July 2018! Ascend’s staff traveled to the Czech Republic, where they were privileged to work with accomplished professional opera singers from seven different countries, on cultivating skills for superior performance.

The Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) hosted its International Conference on October 3, 2018, where Ascend’s Dr. Conviser presented on “Strategies for Preserving Save Training Environments for Athletes” and continued her leadership role as coordinator of AASP’s Eating Disorders Special Interest Group.

Ascend’s staff, friends, family and puppies were pleased to participate in the National Eating Disorders (NEDA) Walk in Chicago’s Lincoln Park on October 12th, where Ascend welcomed over 200 visitors to their booth.

In December of 2018 and in collaboration with colleagues Dr. Riley Nichols and Amanda Tierney from the Victory Program of McCallum Place, St. Louis, Mo., Dr. Conviser published to articles; Assessing Athletes with Eating Disorders: Essentials for Best Practices and Treatment of Athletes with Eating Disorders: Essentials for Best Practices, in the Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology, Volume 12, Issue 1.
